The Superquadricseries are sculptural yet functional storage pieces that deal with rhythm,repetition and balance. The title is derived from mathematics – asuperquadric cube is a rounded cube. Formally, this collection can be seen as acontinuation of my Pile of Suitcases piece but with a very different look andfeel. Perfectly rounded volumes are stacked on top of each other and joinedtogether to create strong structural elements, balanced by the warmth of thebeautiful patterns of the solid wood. Some of the pieces are reminiscent ofancient totems and neolithic structures, others of enormous block games. Someof them hint at various modernist furniture pieces, while others feel more likeabstract sculptures.
